Don’t confuse the Greek Golden Dawn with the Golden Dawn Mysteries of Light

February 15, 2015

There are a number of reasons why one might stand in favor of one Golden Dawn Order over another. There are many differences in the various groups that call themselves Golden Dawn. Some of the teaching of some groups are drastically different from traditional Golden Dawn studies Many Golden Dawn scholars would be hard pressed to even call some of these group Golden Dawn.

In addition there are personality conflicts and schisms and all the other psychodrama stuff we have come to expect from the occult community. There are massive differences, but there is one area where it is essential that everyone in the Golden Dawn community stand in unison and solidarity.

In Greece there is a political party that has taken up the name GOLDEN DAWN. One might have a tough time calling this group a political party. They tend to be more of a movement of hate. For all practical purposes they are Modern Hitler wanna be’s. This Greek Golden Dawn group is Nazi.

If you want to understand the Greek Nazi Golden Dawn you can read more about them in the link I have provided in Wikipedia. As for beliefs, they share most of the same beliefs as the Hitler’s Nazi Party.

Sadly, they are causing a great deal of confusion on the Internet. In the past you could look up the term Golden Dawn and find a handful of Orders and Lodges. Now the Internet is filled with articles from the Nazi Golden Dawn Political Party.

I believe this is hurting the true Golden Dawn mysteries and those who might be called to become a student or member in a Golden Dawn group. Those interested in the Golden Dawn visit Google and all they see is the Nazi group. In addition many people do not know the difference.

I believe that we in the Golden Dawn community must stand in solidarity against this group and the use of the Golden Dawn name. This is not the kind of energy that represents any true seeker of Light and Magic.

For the record, the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn stands strongly against this group, their beliefs, and the name they have chosen.   We certainly hope you will do the same.

Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

The Golden Dawn Invocation of Thoth Plus Several New GD Vids

May 26, 2014

Awhile ago we recorded in a professional studio some of the more popular invocation of magic and the Golden Dawn. Some have hailed these versions as concise and professional and ideal for the student to use in his or her personal and magical development on the path.

The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn views this path as triple in nature. We see it first as a spiritual path, second we seen the Golden Dawn as a mystical path, and third we see the Golden Dawn as a magical path. Some would claim it is not mystical, but what is magic if it is not also part of a mystical path, magic alone is reduced to rubrics. I think it would be difficult to say that S.L. MacGregor Mathers was not both magician and mystic. The point is, is that the music, the lyrics, and vocalization of these videos is designed to awaken all three aspect of the magi, the spiritual, the mystical and the magical.

The Invocation of Thoth.

The primary invocation is the invocation of the Higher Genius called the Invocation of Thoth.

Next we have the various prayers written by Levi and used in the various elemental initiation and advancements of the Golden Dawn. These are powerful tools to use when working with the elements.

We intend to release and create more videos in the coming weeks and months, some will be teaching in concept, other will be within the Temple and others will be designed to educate people on the wonderful benefits of the sacred mysteries. We certainly hope you will check them out and subscribe.

Golden Dawn Jorge Hevia III ( RIP) The Rest of the Story

May 25, 2014

rc on steps

Recently along with many others in the Golden Dawn community I discovered that Jorge Hevia III passed away. Many of you do not know who Jorge Hevia III was, and how he played a gigantic role in the many of the Golden Dawn legal wars between Chic Cicero and David Griffin and myself as well.

It is not the intention to slam anyone who has passed away. I will not do that. Rather I will share with you the rest of the story about Jorge Hevia III. Jorge passed away in December 2013 but no one in the Golden Dawn community was made aware of his passing. If he was #2 in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn Alpha et Omega, under G.H. Frater L.E.S. ( David Griffin). Now you would think that David’s blog would be filled with accolades about G.H. Frater DEDI ( Jorge Hevia ) Shocking is the fact that only one short blog appeared months after Jorge died. It was kept hush-hush from the entire Golden Dawn community. I for one would have liked to have seen a gigantic healing drive take place for Jorge the way the Golden Dawn community gave Donald Michael Kraig group healing. I think anyone who serves in the GD community for the years that Jorge did, certainly deserved to receive the healing light of the members of the community.
I for one do not have an answer as why Griffin wanted to keep this a big secret and why Jorge never got the community support given to others who have tragically died of things like cancer. Seriously, this was #2 in the Griffin Golden Dawn empire. This was the man who filed suit after suit, and wrote threatening letter after threatening letter for David Griffin as he fought for domination and control of the Golden Dawn. ( BTW, you don’t have to love someone or even like them to send them healing Light.)

Those close to the situation seem to believe that the silence about Jorge death was because David’s Order name is not trademarked in United States. Also, there was a certain fear factor that David had going for him as long as Jorge was at his side. He had a FREE bulldog attorney. I mean who would be daring enough to challenge a man with a free legal mouth piece?
Our Order ( The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn ) went through a small legal battle because of Jorge. It turned out that the case was never followed up on and it only cost our Order about $10,000 in legal fee’s to our attorney Tomas Sardoni. With Jorge Hevia at his side, David Griffin ruled the legal world of the Golden Dawn. More importantly it gave Griffin leverage and made fighting him legally very expensive.
The big battle was fought by Chic Cicero and his team of lawyers and Jorge Hevia III. Nobody knows for sure except Chic exactly how much the trademark battle cost him, but some have guessed that it was over $100,000. Now pause and think about it for a moment. This legal battle over the trademarking of the Golden Dawn cost Chic Cicero (and his donors who have helped to cover the legal fees) a ton of money, while at the same time it cost David Griffin NOTHING. Is there any wonder why Jorge Hevia III was made second in charge of his Order.

The Rest of the story…

Most people do not know that Jorge Hevia III originally was an initiate of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. He was a member in good standing in our Order and was a good student. I personally initiated him into the grade of Portal. This is where the problem began. Almost to the day, on the 9th month Jorge Hevia III began demanding that he be admitted into the Inner Order. We felt that he needed to work through some things first, that he was not ready to join the Inner Order. We asked him to be patient. He got angry and demanded to be allowed into the Inner Order. Then for a time we did not hear from him. Suddenly we found out that he quit our Order and was now an Adept in Griffin Golden Dawn. You can imagine that we were even more shocked to discover that he was now a CHIEF.
Jorge held a grudge against me for a couple of reasons.

1. He believed he was spurned by me and our Order.
2. He was having an affair with a married adept within our Order and felt I interfered.

( As this Soror is till married, I will not mention her name )

It is indeed sad that Jorge and myself never got a chance to sit down and have a beer together.
I would have told him that I alone never stood in his way within our Order. I just wanted to know him better before we I initiated him into 5=6. There was nothing personal about it. I also would have told him that the affair he was enjoying was ending on its own power. The V.H. Soror who was having an affair with him, told me about it after it had ended. She was so concerned about how it might affect the Order she demanded to tell me in the vault of the Adept. The affair was just one of those things that happen from time to time in any group. But over the years I would hear how he blamed me. Like I said, it is too bad we never had a chance to clear the air and have a beer together.

So, the legal bulldog of the Golden Dawn has moved on to the invisible. I for one will wish him well on his new journey and recite the following in his honor:

Ex Deo Nascimur, In Christo Morimur, Per Spiritum Sanctum Reviviscimus

P.S. The Picture of Jorge Hevia III was taken at a bar in Canada during and E.O.G.D. Power Week.

Golden Dawn Theurgy, RIGHT or LEFT?

April 24, 2014

Recently there has been a great deal of talk about another Chief in another Golden Dawn Order involved in promoting an event where Satanic Magic was preformed. I am not sure yet of all the details, but it certainly does not seem like something Mathers would have participated in. It is an indication of a serious problem and a confusion of the path. None the less, here is a short article of the right and left hand path and Golden Dawn Theurgy.

Another GD leader was involved in a public Satanic Rite. ( This is not part of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn )

Many magicians are aware of the fact that there are two Paths of Golden Dawn Ceremonial magic):  the Right Hand Path and the Left Hand Path.  However, there are few who have sought to provide a meaningful definition of what these two paths are.  This lack of a proper definition has led to a variety of conflicting views as to what systems of magic are apart of which path and which systems can harmoniously be combined with others.   In addition, other unfortunately erroneous views arise in this state, such as the mistaken idea that one can walk both Paths simultaneously or that somehow that such an attempt is equivalent to walking the Middle Pillar of the Tree of Life.  It should be noted, that although we are all exhorted, as theurgists, to walk the path of the Middle Pillar, such means that we equilibrate our nature so that it is not overly severe or weakly merciful, but rather perfectly in balance between mercy and severity, intellect and intuition, knowledge and practice, scientific skepticism and faith.  On the other hand, the Path of Theurgy we follow (whether right or left) is fundamentally a moral stance that we take and a direction we head.  One could no more walk both paths simultaneously as one could walk in opposite directions at the same time.  However, the Path of the Middle Pillar is one that seekers of both Paths can and ultimately must adhere to in order to achieve their version of self-mastery.

From the standpoint of this treatise: the Traditions of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn, Rosicrucian’s, Martinism and Masonry are all examples of the Right Hand path of Theurgy, whereas examples of the Left Hand Path include at its highest points Thelema and Chaos Magick and at its lower points Satanism and Satanism.  It is understood and assumed that these groupings will be insulting to the majority of Thelemites.  However, if the reader is patient and reads through the definitions and logic provided, he or she will find that it is not a matter of denigration, but of commonality of certain principles that are held in common with their own group and fundamentally antagonistic to those of the other Path.

Both paths have several points in common although their definition and application of those points may differ drastically.  Some of the points they have in common are:

1.  That every being has a purpose for being here called “The True Will”, and that to accomplish it brings about the greatest success and happiness a person can attain.  The discovery of this True Will and its accomplishment is called “The Great Work”.

2.  That every human being has a higher part of themselves which is the only thing that can assist them in completing the Great Work.

3.  That the purpose of spirituality and magic is to access this higher part.

The underlying philosophy and outlook of the Right-Hand Path includes the following concepts:

1.  That there is one all-powerful Supreme Creator that is concerned with and involved in macrocosmic (universal) as well as microcosmic (individual) matters.

2.  That the best use of an individual’s efforts and faculties are to serve in conformity with the Will of this Supreme Creator.

3.  That as all things which are above are reflected in all things which are below, so do symbols not only partake of an individual’s interior psychology and conditioning, but that they also partake in macrocosmic truths outside of human influence, conditioning or psychology.  Therefore, symbols have universal, defined meanings that are not created nor influenced by man, but rather by Divine sources given to man.  The influence on the meaning of a symbol from an individual’s psychology and conditioning arises only from the microcosmic veil that is interposed between the symbol and the person.

4.  That by the same reasoning as number 3, there is also a universal, defined sense of right and wrong, good and evil outside of human psychology, conditioning, and cultural/social concerns.

5.  That one of the most important directions an individual’s efforts and study must take is in comprehending the true macrocosmic meaning of symbols and the correct sense of right and wrong, and from there to conform one’s mind and heart to the application of the fruits borne of that comprehension.

6.  That several of these values mentioned above include:

a. Living simply and peacefully
b. Respect of authority, hierarchy, and law
c. Purity (i.e. balanced and mature self-restraint in matters of sexuality, extremes of behavior and partaking of substances such as mind-altering drugs and alcohol)
d. Selflessness
e. Service to a higher good and each other
f. Devotion to the Supreme Creator
g. Humility

7.  That Vows must be obeyed in order to progress spiritually.

8.  That the power that fuels the only kind of magic worth doing is Divine in nature.

9.  That the price of spiritual progress, perfect peace, happiness and the greatest blessing for yourself and all those you effect is self-sacrifice.

10.  That faith and religious devotion must be coupled with the science of occultism for the highest and most rapid attainment of spiritual illumination and success in the Great Work.

The underlying philosophy and outlook of the Left-Hand Path include the following concepts:

1.  That the concept and existence of a Supreme Creator is a matter of individual belief rather than macrocosmic fact and it does not matter in terms of spiritual work if there exists a Creator or not, what form it takes, if their are many gods or just one, or if such a being takes any note of the activities of His creation.

2.  That there is no best use of an individual’s efforts and faculties.  Whether it is placed in the service of a deity, one’s fellow man, or one’s own self makes no difference in terms of success in the Great Work.

3.  That the definition and use of symbols is entirely a result of human creation, collective unconscious and individual psychology.  That it doesn’t matter what symbols one uses for what purposes.  All that matters is how one feels about that symbol and if that feeling is appropriate to one’s efforts.

4.  That by the same reasoning as number 3, there is also no universal, defined sense of right and wrong, good and evil outside of human psychology, conditioning, and cultural/social concerns.

5.  That one of the most important directions an individual’s efforts and study must take is in comprehending one’s own chosen meaning for symbols and one’s own individual sense of right and wrong.

6.  That the follow activities are not only acceptable but are often encouraged:
a. Selfishness
b. Living riotously
c. Rebellion against authority, hierarchy, and law
d. The use of sex and mind-altering drugs in magic and spiritual efforts
e. The discounting out of hand of mainstream religious beliefs based on one’s perceptions of its adherents (hypocritically judging them for inconsistencies that they themselves have and express as a result of being human)

7.  That Vows may be disobeyed if one feels inclined to dispense with them and that no consequences will karmically result.  Further, that there is not necessarily a karmic or cause-and-effect reaction in terms of the goodness or evil demonstrated in one’s behavior.

8.  That it is helpful and effective for an individual’s progress in the Great Work to extensively employ the energies and companionship of terrestrial and infernal sources as one’s foundation of magical power.

9.  That the virtues of self-sacrifice, selflessness, obedience, humility, and simplicity are not necessary in the accomplishment of the Great Work, but are at best, helpful to some but not to all, and at worst were rather placed in our world and minds to make us slaves and to make us easier to control and manipulate.

10.  That faith and religious devotion have little to no relationship with the attainment of spiritual illumination and success in the Great Work.

True Golden Dawn adepts are on the path of Light.

True Golden Dawn adepts are on the path of Light.

As it can be seen above, the concept of following both the Right and Left Hand Paths simultaneously is put to rest.  In the very conception of the idea and the attempt, one would be aligning themselves with the Left Hand Path alone, as such is the only Path of the two that would accept such an approach or even consider it possible.  It should also be noted, that only adherents of the Left Hand Path will argue that one should or could even try.

Keep in mind that these are definitions born of the study and practice of both of these paths at different times in many of contributors’ lives and reflect a large sampling of the teachings and people pursuing those paths, both representative and exceptional.  Even so, it is still possible to find many holes in the above definitions as well as notable exceptions to the rule.  And, certainly, many left-hand and right-hand path systems will not fit every point in the above definitions completely, but they will characterize and exemplify most of them if not in theory, then certainly in actual practice and fruits over a large sampling.  Certainly, there are enormous exceptions when it comes to individuals, and experiences of individuals, but as an overarching whole the definitions and system assignments given above hold.

Golden Dawn – Unleashing the Adept Within ( Audio Program )

March 30, 2014
Unleash your true adept powers.

Unleash your true adept powers.

A few years ago I got into a serious debate with myself on the subject of Golden Dawn adept-hood. I wanted to have a more clear and defined understanding of what a true adept was. I knew that many of the people who had gone through the adeptus minor initiation were no more a true adept than the average man on the street. Sure they had facts memorized, but does that make them an adept? It only makes them an adept in memorized knowledge. So what is a true adept? How do your define it, and how do you transform yourself to become one? The true adept is a powerful person often feared by the ignorant. The true adept is someone who has more than knowledge, he or she someone who has deep and often profound understanding and wisdom. While the external adept can tell you how to charge a talisman or bring about miraculous healing, the true adept is the talisman, is the healer, is the mystic, and is the magician.( Yes true adepts are both mystics and magicians ) I think it is important to advance the grades, but we should focus on true adept-hood rather than titles.
This CD program was designed to help those on the Golden Dawn path unleash the true power of the adept within. Once this magical power is awakened, everything else works, because your magic makes it happen. See for yourself, check out the information on Unleashing the Adept within. Golden Dawn Inner Magic & the Qabalah ( The Power of Q )

March 29, 2014
Artistic drawing of the Tree of Life.

Artistic drawing of the Tree of Life.

5 years ago I created a program to help adepts within the Golden Dawn tradition better connect to the power of the Tree of Life. This was no easy project. Everything had to be just right, so that the vibration of the sounds were akin to the vibration of the Sephra on the Tree of Life. Each one of these special and unique doorways was created only after a complete and total invocation. Needless to say, this program did not happen over night. The Power of Q is an exciting tool to help the student of the Tree of Life. sadly, many have the head knowledge but lack the inner awareness.
This program has not been available to anyone for about 3 or 4 years. The only way you could get a copy was through someone who bought it and was bootlegging a copy. It is available now. I can’t say exactly how long it will be available, but for a short time you can get it at my personal website. ( It is not available through the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. ) Here is a direct link to the site. If you have any interest in the inner transmutation and power of the Tree of Life, I would suggest you check out the Power of Q. Here is the link below:

The Law Of Attraction, The Golden Dawn & Energy Healing

February 5, 2014

G.H. Frater P.D.R.

The Ruach Healing Method, a Golden Dawn method of healing and energy work.

The Sphere of Sensation of the human body.

Hermes states, as above so below. The Law of Attraction finds it’s roots in the ancient teachings of Hermes Trimegestus and the Emerald Tablet. This ancient document provides the basis of knowledge for all magical, metaphysical and even spiritual healing. It is the Law of Attraction and the reality that likes attract likes which allows us to create an inner reality of health and wellness, then have it reflected into the physical plane. Without getting too esoteric let me make this whole concept easier to understand. All we need to do is look at this simple yet profound sentence that come from the Emerald Tablet. The profound sentence is as follows: “As Above so Below.”
There are a multitude of interpretations/translations to the Emerald Tablet. Keeping this in minds, suffice to say, a workable and usable interpretation of the Emerald Tablet is “that which we create in the higher planes of reality, must manifest in the lower planes of the physical world”. This is exactly what you do as a Energy Healer, you work in the energy field of the patient and thus are working in the higher planes of reality in regard to the patient.
This is a simple concept but difficult for some to get a grasp on. I remember when a noted Golden Dawn leader began laughing on the internet and calling me a “New Age Golden Dawn Guru”. He argued that this whole concept was from the new age movement and had nothing to do with the Golden Dawn or the teachings of Hermetics. I strongly disagree.
I believe the Law of Attraction is the cornerstone of how the Magic of Light works, initiation, and or anything else that has a spiritual/physical counterpart. Naturally the Law of Attraction is the foundation of how all forms of esoteric or spiritual healing work. Think of this…..If there is no higher reality that expresses itself as the aura or energy field, if the only thing that exists is the body, then all we are doing is playing a mental game with ourselves. On the other hand, if healing a tear in the aura of a patient has a profound affect on a bleeding cut, and the bleeding slows down or stops, then we have employed the very basis of the Law of Attraction. Healings like the one just mentioned are the RULE, not the exception.
One prolific author who wrote about the Law of Attraction was one of the Chief Adepts in the Golden Dawn Temple in Chicago in the 1920′s. His name was William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932). Atkinson was one of the Three Initiates who wrote what has almost become the modern day bible of modern Hermetics. That book is a must read for anyone interested in the Law of Attraction and Hermetics. The books is called The Kybalion (1908). After over 50 years this book is still in print; showing the timelessness of the truth contained in it’s pages. Atkinson coined the phrase “Thought, Vibration and the Law of Attraction.”
master thoughtsThe whole idea that Atkinson and others claim is that our thoughts have incredible power to create the reality we seek. In other words, if we think about health and vitality, we tend to attract health and vitality and vice verse. This is a cornerstone teaching in almost every mystery school. The more you think about something the more energy is put into manifesting that thought. Again we see the concept of “As above, so below”.
This fundamental truth applies to every area of our lives. The way we think affects our mental state, our physical health, as well as, our wealth. It is absolutely critical that every Energy Healer of any healing method have a basic understanding of the Law of Attraction. It is essential that as Energy Healers we never allow ourselves to draw limitations on the universe’s ability to heal anyone of any condition at anytime.
Another famous Adept of the Golden Dawn tradition is the late Israel Regardie. He is most famous for his book called The Golden Dawn. Regardie was a proponent of the Law of Attraction and wrote about it in his 1937 book called, The Art of True Healing: A Treatise on the Mechanism of Prayer and the Operation of the Law of Attraction in Nature. In this book he shares with his readers a meditation designed to help the mind heal itself! Regardie claimed that the Law of Attraction was not only a valid method for attracting good physical health, but that the Law of Attraction was equally good for empowering other aspects of one’s life. I personally would agree with Regardie and simply add that there cannot be any healing if the constructs of the Law of Attraction are not employed. All good Energy Healers invoke the power of the Law of Attraction in their healing even if they are not aware of it. I as an Energy Healer with a Golden Dawn background join Atkinson and Regardie in embracing how the Law of Attraction and true healing go hand in hand.
Certainly there are others who do not have a magical or Hermetic background that have been active advocates in regard to the power of the Law of Attraction. This may be one of the most revealing things about the Law of Attraction; that it’s concepts are not limited to one group of people or another. People from every belief system seem to find a way to connect to the concept of the Law of Attraction, especially if healing is involved.
One of these people is Wallace D. Wattles. Wattles in his famous book The Science of Getting Rich (1910) explains to his reader that, the mere act of simply believing in the object of your desire and focusing on it will lead to that object or goals being realized. Wattles also explains that negative thoughts lead to negative results. If Wattles is correct, and I certainly believe he is, then every thought our patients think about themselves and their physical health likely has played a significant role in their Dis-ease. In other words, they are attracting into their physical bodies the very sickness they seek to rid themselves of. To take this a step further, every thought we think about our patients has a powerful and even lasting impact on them. This is why it is critical that the Energy Healer learn to control his or her thoughts at all times.
Perhaps the most famous of all the books that have the Law of Attraction as its cornerstone is Napoleon Hill’s book called Think and Grow Rich (1928). This book continues to be one of the top selling books on the use of the mind in the attraction of wealth. The book has sold over 60 million copies. The same principals that are employed for attracting wealth can and should be applied to the subject of healing. This book is as much about the subject of healing as it is about wealth accumulation. Hill insisted on the importance of controlling one’s own thoughts in order to achieve success, as well as, control the energy that thoughts have and their ability to attract other thoughts.
In recent times, we have seen a plethora of books on the subjects of thoughts, attraction and healing. For example The Secret (2006) by Rhoda Byrne. This book is very much influenced by Wallace Wattles 1910 book The Science of Getting Rich, which Byrne received from her daughter during a time of personal trauma. Another example is Esther and Jerry Hicks and their New York times best seller called, Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Health, Wealth and Happiness (2007). All of these books teach about the power of our thoughts and what we can learn to manifest if we develop control of our thought.
You may be saying to yourself, this is all very interesting but what does this have to do with the healing. The answer is simple. Your thoughts as an Energy Healer must be focused on a target. I believe you must hold that target in your mind with crystal clear vision. When I begin performing healing on a patient, I never draw a limitation. I always see this person in optimum health and vitality. I see radiance coming from them and always see them in a state of joy and happiness. You need to create this vision in your mind and hold it. At times it may become difficult to hold the picture, but nonetheless less this is what you must do.
chakra-bodyEverything you do must align with your overall picture of health and vitality. At times this may be difficult because your patients may be in pain, sick, hurting, and even more damaging, they may be complaining. Listening to a patient complain is one thing, as we want to be compassionate, but we must never buy into the the complaint. It is important that you as an Energy Healer never accept that things are static or unchangeable. You are a representative of the universe and the universe has no limitations.

Healing Rite of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. A ritualistic form of magical healing.

So whether you are a Law of Attraction practitioner, a Golden Dawn or other magical community member, or an Energy Healer remember all of these are inter-connected. Even though each group accesses the power of their thoughts in different ways the same results are achieved. The Law of Attraction uses magic and healing. Magic uses the Law of Attraction and healing. Healing uses the Law of Attraction and magic. I encourage you to explore the resources in this article that you are not familiar with. Broadening your knowledge of attraction, magic, and healing techniques will empower you. Remember, control your thoughts; “As Above, so Below”. Expect results!

Top 10 Golden Dawn Magicians of All Time

January 25, 2014

The other day I was asked by a member in the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn who I thought were the top magicians of Golden Dawn Magic. I told him I would get back to him on this topic and gave it some thought.  After several days of thinking about this topic, I decided what was critically important in choosing the top 10 Golden Dawn magicians of all time, and what is not so important.

First the list of things that are not so important.

1. Being good at puzzle magic.

2.  A super-duper memory

3.  Wood working and sewing skills

4.  Religious

Here are the skills the magician must have to be great:

1.  Knowledge of the system and how magic really works

2.  Astral skills

3   God form assumption ability

4.  Ability to control the elements

5.  Ability to control spirits and macrocosm energies

6.  Ability to create powerful magical operations

7   Forged and tested connections to Genius and the Third Order

Lets go back at look at the list of things that are not so important.  Number one is puzzle magic skills.  There are a ton of people who have powerful left brain skills in math, physics, and the ability to do puzzles.  This gives them absolutely no advantage in magical abilities that anyone else.Magic is not about solving puzzles, it is about causing reality to conform to will.  Magic is about connection with Genius, and in that puzzle making or creating ability is just that, a curious ability and a talent of sorts, but has little to do with magical abilities, knowledge or power.

Next lets look at those with a super-duper memory.  I have met such people who could memorize an invocation in less than an hour.  This gives them the ability to memorize, not to actualize the magic invoked into reality.  If magic was about memory only, then the person with the best memory would be the best magician.  This is not the case.  Often magicians really do not come into their full power until they reach their 50’s through 80’s.  While they have lost a bit of edge on the memory stuff, they have gained with experience and inner knowledge.

I often am shocked at people who are easily impressed by someone with artistic or wood working skills.  These are valuable skills indeed, but have little to do with magic.  I have met people who have all kinds of gold talismans, wood worked tools that were perfectly painted, silk robes etc and yet were severely lacking in the magical power dept.  Don’t confuse the craft of wood working or sewing with magic.

Magic is magic and while it work though a connection to Divine Source, it has little to do with being religious.  Magic is about being spiritual, and spiritual to your own path, not to people, groups or churches who want to tell you what is good and what is bad.  You need to discover your inner direction on your own.

Before we embark on the list, lets take a look at skills that I think a Golden Dawn magician must have.  Naturally this list is not complete and could be fleshed out.  This is a blog, not a book.

I think it is critical that a strong working knowledge of the system is essential.  I mean seriously, how can you be great at Golden Dawn magic if you have little idea of the system and how it works

Like wise I think it is important to have well-developed astral skills.  ALL MAGIC AT SOME LEVEL IS ASTRAL.  If you seriously do not know how the astral plane works, or how to manage it, your magical skills will be lacking.  The people on my list, I believe had incredible astral skills.

The Golden Dawn teaches godform assumption, and developed abilities in this art are essential.  I think it goes far beyond the godforms of the GD.  I think that great magicians have the ability to invoke thought form assumption.  They are not limited to the Egyptian gods, they can assume almost any thought form and take on it positive qualities.

I think it goes without saying that the ability to control the elements and the forces of the macrocosm is critical.  The power of the pentagram and the hexagram must be invoked and used in an effective manner at all times.

An essential skill is the ability to go outside the box and create magical operations that work and are effective.  The teachings of the Order are designed to provide a foundation of knowledge. However a great magician is always studying and learning.  I often think about Mathers and the peas ritual.  It certainly was not classical Golden Dawn, but few could argue that is very effective.  As a matter of fact, the schisms that plague the Golden Dawn current to this very day, may be a result of that powerful magical operation.

Finally, I believe that a forged and honest connection to the Third Order and to ones own Genius is a must.

I will leave it to you to decide if my list makes sense.  I will not put bio’s of the people listed on this list as you can find them all over the internet.

The Top 10 Golden Dawn Magicians of All Time:

1. S.L. Macgregor Mathers  ( Co- Founder of the Golden Dawn )

2  Alister Crowley               ( Adept in the GD, Partner with Allan Bennett creator of Thelema )

3  Allan Bennett                   ( Personal Student of Mathers, brought Buddism to UK )

4  Florence Farr                   ( Adept and Imperator.  Founder of Sphere Group )

5  Moinia Mathers                 ( Adept and channel of the 5=6 material, contact with Third Order )

6  William Butler Yeats          ( Adept and spiritualist )

7  William Wynn Westcott      ( Co-Founder of the Golden Dawn, Filled with knowledge )

8  R.W. Felkin                        ( Founder of GD offshoot and strong magical connections )

9  Paul Foster Case               ( Founder of B.O.T.A. and Temple Chief of Chicago GD )

My last spot is difficult.  It could be a little know guy name Willian Walker Adkinson who was a co-chief with Paul Foster Case in Chicago and was co-author of the Kbylion or it could be Brodie Innes who ran a temple and remained loyal to Mathers when everyone else schismed.

Please don’t take my list too seriously.  It is just a speculation on my part and the list could change tomorrow if I were to read something new.

Donald Michael Kraig Diagnosed With Pancreatic Cancer – Magic Needed.

Donald Michael Kraig

On Facebook, Holly Allender Kraig announced that her husband, author and magician Donald Michael Kraig, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. They are asking for prayers and magical assistance to help get rid of the cancer.

“Don was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in late 2013. It’s a diagnosis, not a death sentence. It is possible to put this into remission. That is the goal, remission. Don is a fighter and is adamant that beating this is already a done deal. I stand beside him as his wife and best friend to help ease him through the battle he’s facing. The community support is amazing. I know he will be healed through all the love, support and healing energies coming his way. This is a done deal!”
For those unfamiliar with Donald Michael Kraig, he is a very influential author and thinker in the realms of ritual magic(k), magical theory, and related practices. Kraig is perhaps best known for Modern Magick: Twelve Lessons in the High Magickal Arts, which was dubbed a “modern-day classic” by Chic and Sandra Tabatha Cicero. Other recent works include a remembrance of author Scott Cunningham, and an occult-themed thriller novel. He’s also an acquisitions editor at Llewellyn Worldwide.

Donald Michael Kraig is not only a noted author and thinker, he’s also a charming, funny, and supportive individual.

Just as Don helped me in his visits to my Fontana home many years ago, so he has helped the entire Golden Dawn and magical community. I know that for years in the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn we gave out his book Modern Magick to those thinking of a magical lifestyle. We also suggest the book for all our members as additional reading. Personally, I think Don’s work is a must. I want the magical community to help Don, not for what he has given, but for who he is. He is honest, and dependable, and extremely intelligent. Our community needs more people like him. I therefore call on all magical types to use the limits of your powers to send this cancer into total remission. If some of the printed rituals are to complex you can write me here for something simple. Finally, we need to stick with this. This is not a one time deal. I suggest that you mark this on your calendar. Shoot for one time a week now or more often to banish the cancer,
and then perhaps once a month after that. Even after the good news comes that Don is in Remission, I urge you to keep doing the work once a quarter for the next year or so. Don’t leave this up to memory, write it down in you calendar or put a reminder in your I-Phone.

Golden Dawn Astral Initiation Experience

Imperator General of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

From time to time we will be sharing an initiates astral initiation experience. Our Order believes that astral initiation is a valid form of initiation. We believe that when and where possible it should be followed up by physical initiation so as to experience the psycho drama, but as for the spiritual influx of light, it is fully and safely present in astral initiation of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. We believe that astral initiation is as safe as any other form of initiation.
The following is a recent experience of one of our initiates into 0=0. We share this as his personal experience, not that it should match yours or any pre-determined experience. After all initiation is personal.

As a recent initiate to the Esoteric GD I would first like to thank EGD for the initiation experience, that being said I would like to share that experience with the other members and prospective members. I would like to think that my experience will make it’s way to prospective members waiting to begin their own GD initiation. My initiation was an astral initiation. Now my kneejerk opinion on this sort of initiation was that it would lose most if not all of the initiation relevance as well as potency, not to mention authenticity. After all the founders of the GD system didn’t conduct initiation in this manner and would probably roll in their graves were they to catch wind that such initiations were being conducted under the GD name. after serious consideration, I realized that the kneejerk reaction was in fact misguided. I am familiar with astral work so it should be a bit easier for me to experience the initiation in those terms as it is presented. Even so, I was skeptical of an astral initiation producing a “genuine” initiation experience. Never the less, I kept an open mind and went into my initiation. I was more than pleasantly astonished by the results. I share my experience now as a personal endorsement of the astral initiation as conducted through the EGD. I will forego the ritual details to get directly to the results: experiences and information that I receive through astral communication typically crystalize as language more than images, in this case I received both. The first sentence came to me as I stared into the candle flame as it danced in the eastern quadrant. Those words were “the flickering flame is ptah”. This was quickly followed with: “begin your journey–clasp your hands and pierce through the veil–the light cast is love and the brotherhood of man–begin the journey of ages-“. Directly followed a vivid image of what appeared to be an hierophant wearing an ornate crown of gold and a brilliant white light beaming from behind his head and piercing forward. A very distinct voice informed me that the white light was his chakra. What followed was a vivid display of chakra spheres. The first chakra color electric blue constructed cerulean to turquoise. The second electric green constructed emerald to light green-yellow. The third electric fuscia constructed deep brown to fuscia. The chakra display was followed by yet another vivid image of what appeared to be an mezo-american priest crowned with a gold, winged helm with open, ringed eyelets. Shortly after these image displays, a voice spoke out the words “Lux Vel Legis”. I spent a total of an hour in the initiation triangle and will spend some time deciphering the experience. I will say the experience held some humor as well, the voice: “there are deutoronomy verses stranger than the tarot(hierophant)”. emerging from the other side of this experience, I feel invigorated and yes enlightened. Ready to begin work. I rarely if ever share these types of experiences openly as I do now, however I now feel comfortable as in the company of brothers and hold no reservation in sharing these experiences now. Strive forward.–
